From “Anxious and Uncertain” to Confident, Grounded, and Attuned EMDR Therapist

EMDR Basic Training Prepares You For the Basics… But There’s No Such Thing As “Basic” Trauma
You’ve completed your EMDR basic training. You’re inspired by it and maybe even in awe of what it can do.
But sitting across from your first clients, your body tells another story.
Your mind races:
“Am I doing this right?”
“Should I go back to Phase 2?”
“What if my client dissociates?”
“Why does the manual feel so clunky?”
Your palms sweat.
Your voice tightens.
You look at the script but can’t feel it.
You know EMDR works, but something in you is afraid to trust yourself using it.
You’re not alone. Every new EMDR therapist has been there.
What makes the difference is having a consultation space that helps you feel steady enough to trust the method and your instincts.
The Transformation
Imagine this:
You’re in a session with a trauma client who used to overwhelm you.
But now your breath is steady.
You sense when to slow down, when to pause, and when to lean in.
You can name what’s happening in their system and in yours.
You know how to reorient them gently, when to bridge to resource, when to return to target.
You finish the session grounded, clear, and quietly proud.
That’s the transformation UnStuck EMDR Consultation™ is designed to create: I help you move from “I don’t feel like I’m doing it right” to “I know what my client and I need next.”

What’s different about the UnStuck EMDR Framework™?
Most consultation groups focus on therapists who are already using EMDR.
My framework is for skilled therapists who feel stuck after their EMDR training. The Unstuck EMDR Consultation Framework™ was developed specifically to get you confidently using what you learned in EMDR training to break through imposter syndrome and get your clients relief through EMDR.
By the end of our 5 months together, you won’t just have 75% of your certification hours – you’ll have the skill, the grounding, and the confidence to help your clients finally find the healing they’ve been searching for.
My Unique 3-Pronged Approach:
- Resource vault: Access to resources you can take into your sessions that offer language you can use in the moments you feel stuck
- UnStuck EMDR Practice Lab: A safe environment to practice and mess up without worrying about causing harm. These are 2-hour consultation groups where you get to practice and receive direct feedback.
- Individual EMDR Consultation: Work through the cases that feel stuck. Get more resources and insights to bring into your sessions. You’ll build confidence becoming “playful” with the EMDR protocol and feel more authentic in your sessions.
What We’ll Work On
EMDR consultation isn’t just about completing your hours for EMDRIA Certification.
It’s about building real-world confidence — the kind that lives in your nervous system.
Through personalized consultation sessions, you’ll:
- Strengthen your EMDR skills across the 8 Phases and 3 Prongs
- Learn to read your client’s nervous system and know when to pause or deepen
- Get unstuck when processing loops, dissociation, or phobic avoidance appear
- Integrate somatic, parts-based, and attachment-informed interventions
- Understand how to use EMDR safely with complex trauma, grief, and anxiety
- Find your authentic voice and rhythm as an EMDR therapist
You’ll leave each session feeling clearer, more anchored, and better equipped to bring EMDR alive with your clients.
My Approach to EMDR Consultation
I’m an EMDRIA-Approved EMDR Therapist and Consultant-in-Training (CIT), offering up to 15 of the 20 required hours toward EMDRIA certification at an affordable rate.
But more than that, I offer a space to grow your confidence from the inside out.
My approach weaves together:
- Somatic and nervous-system awareness so you stay grounded in session
- IFS-informed EMDR and attachment-based approaches so you meet parts with precision and care
- Reflective consultation so you integrate your clinical head with your intuitive heart
I’m also a Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional, helping you build sustainability as you grow.
You’ll feel seen not just as a clinician, but as a whole human learning something powerful and tender.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) About Consultation With Skye
What does it mean to be a consultant in training?
A consultant-in-training is working towards becoming an EMDRIA certified EMDR consultant. The requirements to be a consultant are: I. Providing consultation to at least 5 EMDR therapists working towards their certification and II. Completing at least 300 EMDR sessions with at least 75 different clients.
Who is your consultant?
My consultant is Denette Martinez-Guzman and I will bring her expertise to your EMDR consultation in addition to my own. My EMDR consultation is heavily discounted while I’m in training, as you will need to find another consultant for the remaining 5 hours of consultation.
How will my experience be impacted by your CIT status?
I can provide up to 15 of your required 20 hours for your EMDR certification. I know you will need to meet with another consultant, so I provide my consultation services at a steep discount while I’m a CIT. You can receive EMDR consultation towards certification from an EMDR approved consultant or EMDR consultant in training anywhere in the world. The most important thing is to make sure you find an EMDR consultant who is aligned with your practice.
Where are you able to provide consultation?
Anywhere in the world! While my therapy practice is based in NYC and I also see people in Colorado, I can see you for consultation anywhere in the world. I only speak English, so keep that in mind.
